Sometimes during times of financial stress, the frequency and intensity of interactions between public leaders and government funded organisations and individuals drowns out interactions with community funded arts organisations and individuals. The result is that an institutional biasis, hardwired into policy making at all levels.
We would like to provide an opportunity to celerbrate the sections of the Arts community which are not concerned with the current funding issues, but rather, are focused on simply learning, making, presenting and discussing Art.
In times of general cyclical gloom and doom in the Arts, we hope to use the Opening to provide an alternative perspective, and perhaps role model. As such we hope to shape media and public debate towards what the Arts can do well, and that is, bring people together over good food, good wine, to share good music, good art and good conversation.
The Robertson Park Artists Studio is an independent Artists Run Initiative that was established in 2000, and grew out of the Wellman Street Studio (and before the Selected Plumbers Studio est: 1993).
As such it may well be the longest running independent artists run studio in WA.
The exhibiting professional artists are building solid profiles both in WA, interstate and internationally, all have websites, use social media.
See www.robparkart.info for links. http://tinyurl.com/pujr822 provides images from a previous exhibition in the venue.
It is the centre to a weekly community of 60-70 recreational and professional artists. It's independently funded exhibition openings have each time attracted between 200-300 people. These are generally individuals and decision makers in the public and private sector. They include professionals, educators, other professional artists, managers, administrators, business and community leaders, and opinion leaders. A much wider audience will read and hear about the event through our mail-out, advertising and stories on both mass and niche media, in print, electronic and digital channels.
For this event we hope to focus on a smaller, more exclusive event on the evening of Saturday 7 November.
