ROBERTSON PARK STUDIO 2008 NEWSLETTER
STUDIO ARTISTS
LAUREN WILHELM has recently had an exhibition at Monart, Dalkeith and is showing new work at Margaret River Galleries.
She is currently side-tracked with graphic design work but is looking forward to getting back into the studio to let off some steam!
FRANCES DENNIS has been also side-tracked with travelling for most of the year, throughout Eastern Europe and Switzerland and across Australia on the motorbike.
She is now back in the studio building up a body of experimental painted works before taking off on the motorbike again for two months in early 2009..
GRAHAM HAY had a very, very busy 2008, with over 25 paperclay workshops and artists talks, including an invited guest appearance at the NZ Potters conference and five sold out workshops across the US (including two in New York).
Over 2 tonne of paperclay was used by just 13 students during a six week workshop in Geraldton!
It was also a very busy studio year with eleven exhibitions, including one in New Zealand and a solo at the Moores Building Gallery in Fremantle.
Large paper sculptures were exhibited at Southbound (10,000 people), Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe beach (100,000 people), while five sculptures with specially grown fungi inside, were installed permanently at the Northcliffe Forest Sculpture Walk in the Southwest.
This frenzy of workshops, creating and exhibiting was also accompanied by increasing community student enrolments, with a waiting list for some of the more popular classes.
Graham is looking forward to a relaxing Christmas break, building 50 metres of gardening retaining walls.
CAROL ROWLING has had a busy year travelling overseas to Canada and Alaska, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Dubai. She was invited to participate in an International Exhibition in Ferrara Italy with Trevisan International art, the curator offering to be Carol’s agent in Europe.
Carol has an exhibition coming up in June/ July 2009 with another artist at ABD the Gallery in Lake st Nth Perth.
Renae Edward is in the midst of completing a brand new Bridal publication to Perth called 'Blush' and is the sole Graphic Designer.
She has been working on small illustrations and a lot of vector art! But needs to get back into the studio and away from the computer!
